Heart to Herts is a self help, self financing group, formed in November 1995, on an initiative by The British Heart Foundation. The West Herts Community Health (NHS) Trust, Hertfordshire Health Promotions and the Cardiology Consultants at Hemel Hempstead General Hospital. Our aim is to give practical support to people with heart problems (usually Angina, Heart Surgery, Heart Attack or Valve Disease), their Partners and/or carers and to promote a stimulating and healthy life style in congenial and friendly company. Heart disease has a great impact on an individual’s whole family and Heart to Herts objectives encompass those who care for the sufferer. We have all experienced the many fears and worries that are inherent in people with heart disease. We know from experience that sharing these with others in a similar position often helps. Heart to Herts holds monthly meetings, where speakers give interesting talks on not only medical matters, but also topical and social subjects. We try to cater for all tastes and the Committee is very keen to do those things in which members have expressed an interest. During the course of a year we hold several different kinds of social events, including friendly walks in the beautiful local countryside, and organised outings. You will soon discover that Heart to Herts is not just another talking shop. We offer you a rewarding and stimulating group of people with many interests and objectives in common.
And remember that walking the dog is also very good good exercise
